    Biography

    USA , 1986

Using accessible, everyday materials such as markers, crayons, and painter’s tape on
recycled surfaces, including aged paper and found cardboard, Delao creates largeformat
portraits of renowned artists. His distinctive approach—what he terms Skribblism
—is a loose yet deliberate style: while the mark-making may appear chaotic up close,
from a distance the works resolve into tightly composed, near-photorealistic renderings.
Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, and raised in Southern California, Delao studied fine art in
Germany while working in fashion, before returning to California. He currently works out
of his studio in Los Angeles.
Delao’s works are held in several private collections such as: Melissa Peterman’s Collection, Khoshbin Collection, Deepak Chopra’s Collection, Wayne Brady’s Collection, DJ Quik’s Collection, Dr.Dre’s Collection, James Corden’s Collection, The St.Paul Collection, The Heritage Collection, The Bhatia Family/Maharajas Collection, Nevermind Gallery Collection, Nipsey Hussle/Marathon Collection, Alex Israel’s Collection, Faze Rug’s Collection,
